About smell of rain online

Our
Story
Built for those who stop to notice the smell of rain before the storm even arrives.
This site is part archive, part journal, and part fragrance studio. created by a perfumer obsessed with petrichor, atmosphere, and the emotional weight of scent. What began as a personal exploration of rain-inspired fragrance became a space dedicated to documenting the culture, art, and feeling surrounding rain itself.
Here you’ll find reviews of rain-scented perfumes, stories behind atmospheric fragrances, features on creators inspired by storms and weather, and an evolving archive of scents, visuals, music, and objects connected to rain culture. Alongside the blog and archive lives our fragrance work: original perfumes crafted to capture rain in all its forms. Wet concrete, foggy forests, thundercloud air, cold city streets, and the quiet stillness after a storm.
For petrichor lovers, this is more than a fragrance site.
It’s a place to collect memories, moods, and storms.
About founder
Jonni renfroe
Jonni is a queer perfumer, creative, and lifelong beauty industry professional with more than 20 years of experience exploring the relationship between scent, identity, and emotion. Drawn to the atmosphere of rain from an early age, he created this project as both an artistic archive and a fragrance journey dedicated to capturing the feeling of storms, wet earth, fog, concrete, and the quiet intimacy that exists within rainy moments.
Blending a love for alternative culture, perfumery, and storytelling, Jonni’s work focuses on translating fleeting moods and hyperrealistic environments into fragrance. Through this space, he hopes to build a home for fellow petrichor lovers — those who find beauty, comfort, and nostalgia in the scent of rain.
